Phone payments and airtime: read both parts

Independent information to help you understand the question and prepare your next step.

A device obligation and its airtime service can be separate agreements. They may still appear on a single statement or be collected through a single payment arrangement. Use the contract documents to identify each component.

Check the relevant details

Record the device balance, airtime term and what an upgrade changes. If a programme involves returning a phone, check the return conditions and how the remaining obligation is treated.

Look for the important distinction

A number transfer does not automatically settle a separate device balance. Similarly, paying off a phone does not by itself establish that the airtime has ended. Ask for written confirmation of what remains active.

What this means for your decision

We explain these distinctions generally. We do not arrange handset finance, contract changes, sales or returns, and cannot determine a balance inside a network account.
