Scheduled changes deserve an early look

Independent information to help you understand the question and prepare your next step.

A future change can be written into the agreement from the start. Before comparing two services, read the payment schedule and the dates when any specified adjustment applies.

Check the relevant details

For new contracts from 17 January 2025, Ofcom prohibits inflation-linked or percentage-based rise terms. Any specified in-contract increase must be shown clearly upfront in pounds and pence, with its timing.

Look for the important distinction

That rule does not make every contract a fixed-price contract. Older agreements may have different terms, and a bill can also change because of additional usage, an optional feature or a benefit ending.

What this means for your decision

If a change is not explained by the summary, ask the provider to identify its basis and your available options. Keep the notice and the response. This page is a general explanation rather than advice on an individual legal dispute.
